Of the four seasons, fall is one of the most colourful! The landscape which once sported various shades of green suddenly changes to a medley of colours - gold, red, yellow and brown as the crisp, cool days of fall mark the end of summer causing the leaves to die.

The roads, rivers, and lakes of Vancouver Island are all briefly fringed by a mosaic of coloured leaves during the early to mid weeks of fall. Some leaves on trees appear to be alight in fiery reds, while others look to have struck gold as they turn to bright golden yellow.

In the wilderness of Vancouver Island such as in Strathcona Provincial Park, the ground is covered by a carpet of colourful leaves which have come to rest at the base of trees or on boulders beside the pristine flowing rivers.
